Ohhh! Well, congatulations on a successful weaning, even if it was unintentional.
ReplyDeleteAre you sure it's not just a temporary thing? I hear some babies do that sometimes (teething?)
ReplyDeleteLove this!!!! As an "extended breastfeeder," I can totally relate. Rae isn't as nearly into the boob as Madeline was and I'm so afraid she's going to reject me before I'm ready. :) I will say that around 15 months Madeline rejected me. She kept biting me and I was heartbroken because I wasn't ready to wean. I called my mom-in-law, who also happens to be a lactation consultant at Children's Healthcare of Atlanta, and she told me to just stop offering the breast and that Madeline might be ready to wean even if I wasn't. She told me to pump some just in case this was just a phase. She went nearly a week without breastfeeding and then she got sick and all she wanted was Mommy's milk. We never had a nursing strike and I ended up having to wean her at 22 months because I am one of those women who just can't conceive when I'm nursing. (We conceived Rae the month I gently weaned Madeline; we'd been officially "trying" for 8 months prior to that, but my NFP charts showed that breastfeeding was interfering with my cycle). Whew! Sorry for all that rambling! :)
