Happy New Year's Eve!

When I think of New Year's Eve, I think of parties and celebrating, which makes me think of dancing!  And of course to have dancing, you need great music!  So today's giveaway is a $10 gift card for iTunes.  (If you don't use iTunes, we'll figure something else out.)

Of course, you won't have it in time for tonight's festivities, but there are so many other reasons for great music.  Maybe you want something calm to listen to after this busy season, or something to cheer you up, if the cold, dark days of winter get you down.  Something inspirational might be just the thing with Lent right around the corner (can you believe it?).

To have a chance at winning this gift card, leave a comment below with your favorite New Year's Eve tradition.  We really don't have any, yet, so I'd love to read what you do.  As far as our house, we'll probably treat it as a fairly normal night, since we have been lacking in those lately and the girls aren't all that aware of what's going on.  We could all use the sleep and I have Christmas cards to finish!

Whatever you do, stay safe!  Coming home from Delaware last night, we drove through a sobriety checkpoint and it reminded us that there are people who will not be making good decisions tonight.  I'll be praying for them and for you.

  1. We don't do it every year, but I love being able to attend Benediction. Last year, Father let my kids station themselves around the church with bells and they rang their hearts out at midnight in the presence of our Eucharistic Lord. :)

  2. OH! An Itunes gift card would be lovely, as radio stations here, well... they're not in English much! ;-) I'm loving your giveaways! Our new tradition is basically eat really unhealthy type foods for dinner. We had pizza (kids) and fried shrimp tonight. Last year, we had like frozen foods stuff, mozz sticks, quesadillas, toqitos (I think I may be spelling these wrong, but spell check won't pick them up ;-)). Stuff that is horrible for you, so we never eat, but just once a year, we'll make an exception. :) Happy New Year to you and your family!

  3. I'd like to say we have a tradition, but it is an evolving issue. When the kids were home, we stayed home... not interested in going out. Now we drive the kids around to be with their friends (and unlike when I was a teen, I know the parents and there is NO alcohol) because Mike and I do not want them driving, even the 19 year old, with the crazies. Reilly went to his first New Years Party last night (since the year he was born and he went with me to the neighbors) and it was 6-9. Pizza, noise makers, fondue for dessert and pop-its on the patio. Perfect. For the last 9 years since moving to this house, our neighborhood dinner group gathers on New Years Eve to play games and watch the fireworks at midnight. Mike stays home with whatever children need to be in bed and I go. So my thing, so not his. He's up when I get home and we watch New Years Rockin Eve which I ALWAYS record. Happy Happy New Years. Oh, yes, I-tunes. EVERYONE else got that in their stocking, but me.

  4. I don't know that we really have a tradition. The last couple of years we have gotten together with neighbors. This year it was totally last minute but we got together with our neighbors and played Rock Band until almost midnight then watched the fireworks off of Pikes Peak, which were absolutely gorgeous, with a little bubbly. We usually let the kids stay up if they want and can make it. This year everyone made it till midnight!!!!!!

  6. Thanks for stopping by my site, and also for hosting such a good giveaway!

My family always had fondue on New Years Eve. My husbands parents are Romanian immigrants, so at his family's home they eat Sarmale (a delicious traditional Romanian food of meat-stuffed cabbage leaves in tomato sauce) and follow the Romanian tradition of opening a window at midnight to "let the New Year in." I love that idea and hope to institute it someday, but we're usually fast asleep by midnight...
