Pop the Popcorn!

Today's giveaway is just for you!  You work hard to take care of your family and this time of year the work, while usually enjoyable, is that much more...well...work.  So today I am giving away my favorite movie so that you can "escape" a little!

Whenever I think about it, I want to kick myself that it took me so long to read Jane Austen.  (I didn't start reading her books until after college.)  I LOVE her work!  The first time I read Pride and Prejudice, I ended up finishing it on a plane (probably the only book I could tell you where I was when I read it) and when I was done I had a very physical reaction.  I just wanted to burst!  It was such a great book!!!  I was also a little disappointed that it was over, which I didn't ever really remember feeling about a book before.  I was always happy to finish books, the story being complete.

Then came the movie...

...and I've been hooked ever since.  This is my absolute favorite movie.  I watch it when I'm happy or sad, calm or stressed.  I've used the movie as an escape more than once from a bad mommy day.  I've watched it so many times that even my husband has parts memorized!  And now I want to pass it on to you!  Just leave a comment telling me either your favorite movie or your favorite Jane Austen book (I also really love Persuasion) or both between now and Jan. 6th and you'll be entered to win!  Like all of the other giveaways, I'll be "drawing" a random winner and announce all of the winners on Jan. 8th.

  1. So, I had to get the cliff notes so I could discuss this book with my middle schooler... ugh does that make me a bad mom or what? My go-to book for rereads is anything by Debbie Macomber... she writes pretty clean romance books, many serials involving the same characters over and over which is why I enjoy her. But I will add this to my list of books to try in 2012. Happy Thursday... I have to buy 3 pairs of sneakers for growing boys, ouch.

  2. Hi... I just found you from your comment on Tracy's blog. I love Jane Austen. My favorite is Sense and Sensibility. I happen to own S&S as well as Persuasion. I would love the P&P movie to add to my collection. Truth be told, though, I think my favorite book of all time is Jane Eyre followed very closely by Kristin Lavransdatter. God bless! +JMJ+

I too found you blog through Tracy!! I love to meet new Catholic bloggers that share our faith!! I hate to admit it, but I've only read one Jane Austen book and it is Sense and Sensibility. Now you've encouraged me to read her other novels!

  4. I've read every Jane Austin and can not possibly pick a favorite. It's like asking me to pick a favorite ice cream flavor.

  8. No need to enter me in this, but I had to tell you that I also LOVE Jane Austen. I found a compilation before we left Arizona for Egypt and wondered why I hadn't read her before, either. I've even started rereading some of the books on my Kindle since they are free. :) Tough to choose a favorite, but probably Pride and Prejudice based on its characters. I love the dialogue and vocabulary in all of them!
